The Capacity and Institution Building (CIB) Working Group chairs and secretariat have decided to transform the scheduled CIB annual meeting 2020 into a virtual (shortened) annual meeting. After consultation with members last week, we can now announce that the online meeting will take place on Wednesday 17 June, between 14:00 and 17:00 CEST.

Agenda
The past weeks have shown that it is not desirable to hold very long online meetings. We will therefore shorten the programme which we had developed with the VVSG and the city of Sint-Niklaas and concentrate on the impact of COVID-19 on international capacity building programmes and our sector as a whole. Part of the meeting will be arranged in a plenary setting. We also envisage to arrange for break-out discussions, as we usually do at the CIB annual meeting. The agenda and supporting documents will be circulated in the week of the 2nd of June.

Input for the meeting
We invite you to actively share examples of your COVID-19 activities within international programmes. This will greatly help prepare the discussions. You will find more information here.

We also invite you to update the CIB compendium. The compendium is an overview of all of your ongoing international capacity programmes. Many of you have already updated the information in the past weeks; please get in touch if you still want to adapt certain information (uclg.cib@vng.nl). An updated overview will be shared with all members in the supporting documents.

Who can participate?
The (virtual) CIB annual meeting is a space for exchange among practitioners working on local government development cooperation projects at local government associations or cities. We encourage associations and cities to also invite their international partners to the online meeting. We also explicitly encourage associations of local and regional governments to bring one or more of their members along to the meeting, to make sure that both associations ánd individual local governments are well-represented.

Log-in information
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities will make their online webinar tool available for the virtual CIB meeting. We will send you the information on registration and on how to log in closer to the date.

We hope to ‘see’ you at the first virtual CIB annual meeting!
