Thank you for joining the conversation to help shape the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation’s next programme of work! This group has been created to facilitate conversation around strengthening development effectiveness at subnational level to achieve the SDGs, which was agreed as crucial to for the next generation GPEDC through Steering Committee endorsement of the Co-Chairs’ Proposal for Strategic Priorities.
Action Area 2.6: Strengthening development effectiveness at subnational level to achieve the SDGs
Cities, municipalities and local and regional governments play instrumental roles in im- plementing the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. Their interest in learning and benefitting from each other’s actions continues to grow, in particular on how to partner effectively and deliver results for their citizens. The Global Partnership can help strengthen their engagement with their networks of bi- and multi-lateral, CSOs and private partners, and translate and apply the lessons generated through the global effectiveness effort to the realities of decentralised development co-operation. This could help to amplify the use, refinement and adaptation of existing tools to improve local leadership and ownership, transparency and accountability as well as making local and territorial part- nerships and dialogue platforms more inclusive and innovative.
Additional consultation around this action area will begin in early 2020. In the meantime, we encourage you to share any preliminary thoughts on how the work might develop over the coming months, or any specific guiding questions you may have. We would specifically encourage your thoughts on relevant outcomes, outputs or activities that should be included in the planning for this action area, especially those that could inform the template for project proposals agreed after the 18th Steering Committee in Seoul (deadline for submission of consolidated proposals is 21 February 2020).
Please post below or e-mail email@example.com should you have any questions. We look forward to engaging with you as this work takes shape!
