The new democratic republic constitution was passed in 2015, therefore scope for the TU movement of Nepal was to advocate for a new constitution which adheres to the principle of Decent Work. Instrumental tool for accomplishment of the process was creation of the Joint Trade Union Coordination Centre (JTUCC), a platform for common campaigning of the TU movement for Decent Work and workers’ rights in Nepal. International solidarity was used as a tool for building its capacity as JTUCC engaged with Trade Union Solidarity Centre of Finland. Over the course of more than a decade long support, JTUCC has now developed into a strong organization. Results have been excellent: JTUCC has been able to lead the TU movement and recent successes include, increase in minimum wages, new labor law and social security for all. JTUCC has spearheaded the trade union movement in Nepal and has been able to organise more than 16 % of the workforce in the country, which is the highest in region.
